Job Description :
 United Personnel is seeking a Purchasing Assistant (Buyer) for a local manufacturer in East Longmeadow, MA. This is a temporary position with full-time, Monday through Friday hours. 



Responsibilities include: 


  • Purchasing a wide variety of material and services in support of manufacturing operations

  • Engage collaboratively with multiple manufacturing functional areas to deliver reliable sourcing and optimization of materials used in manufacturing operations

  • Negotiate specifications, price, service, delivery, quality and performance

  • Identify capabilities of new suppliers if requested

  • Facilitate resolution of Receiving and Accounts Payable issues.

  • Maintain the established long-term relationships with suppliers

  • Cultivate positive internal relationships to ensure a collaborative team environment

  • Develop creative/innovative solutions as they relate to supplier cost, quality and delivery


Required Qualifications :

Requirements:


To be successful in this position, we are seeking candidates who have:



  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration major with 1-3 years of experience/internships or 5 years relevant buying or work experience in consumer products for a distribution or manufacturing company

  • Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems. SAP preferred

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities

  • MS Office Skills, especially Excel

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to work effectively across organizational boundaries

  • Experience sourcing and negotiating in a respectful manner

  • Team oriented / willingness to be engaged with the team

  • Decision making and problem-solving skills.
