United Personnel is seeking a Production Planner Supervisor for a manufacturer located in Springfield. This is a direct hire or temp-to-hire opportunity. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in business operations or a similar field, 5 years direct production planning experience, supervisory experience, and a background in quality control.


About the role:


The Production Planner ensures goods manufactured by employer are produced in a cost-effective way that meets quality specifications. In this role, you will make sure that the manufacturing flow runs smoothly and work to improve the production and distribution process. This involves performing planning and scheduling activities for assigned finished goods and subassemblies, ensuring the highest level of customer service at optimum cost. It also includes developing the production schedule to make sure that goods are ready to distribute to customers in a timely fashion. A successful Production Planner meets expectations and requirements of internal and external customers in accordance with our quality policies.


Your responsibilities will include:


Production Planning & Scheduling Activities



  • Plans, prepares, issues and controls a master production schedule that satisfies customer demand, maintains stability in terms of material and capacity requirements, and minimizes RAW, WIP, and Finished Goods inventory levels utilizing MRP concepts and lean tools

  • Develops a production schedule detailing all tasks and when they should be completed by to meet predicted completion date

  • Liaises with customers, suppliers, the human resources department, and maintenance to ensure all workers, materials, and machinery will be available when required

  • Approves materials, costs, manufacturing equipment, and the size of workforce needs to manufacture goods

  • Monitors project progress to ensure it is following the schedule


· Production Activities



  • Facilitate and monitor the completion of new product launch builds & commercialization

  • Liaises with sales division to determine customer requirements

  • Facilitate manufacturing/ supply planning handshake during the Sales Inventory & Operations Planning (SI&OP) Process


· Supply Chain/Purchasing Activities



  • Supports Purchasing/Buying activities as required

  • Confirms material demand and supply, and prepares work orders or purchase requests to produce finished goods and purchase components

  • Interacts with Supply Chain Demand Planners to validate Net Requirements accuracy

  • Proactively anticipates supply risks, initiates actions to prevent backorders, and communicates supply availability information to Production, Global Supply Chain Demand Planners and management


· Supervisory Activities



  • Analyzes planning processes and problems and identify, prioritize, coach and lead continuous improvement and costs savings efforts utilizing Lean tools. Report project plans, progress, and results

  • Assists project teams to ensure successful achievement of product rework objectives and schedules

  • Facilitate Monthly Capacity Planning Meeting with production

  • Leads the monthly Committed Build Plan process and the weekly schedule adherence process

  • Manages the development and communication of recovery plans on backorders and outages as required, implementing corrective actions to minimize future occurrences


· Data Integrity Activities



  • Maintain system Integrity and maintain material master settings in Rapid Response and ERP

  • Maintains Kanban (size, qty), yield, lot size, cycle time and master data as required to support the manufacturing process and provide information for budgeting, capacity, and planning processes

  • Develops scenarios and analytical data models to understand or report on capacity, demand or production trends, schedule adherence, etc. as needed.

  • Supervisory experience, quality control experience, and apprenticeship in production planning


Preferred Qualification



  • Knowledge and experience with Advanced Planning Systems software systems

  • APICS certification
