Job Description :
Directs and coordinates activities of the organization's purchasing operations for all facilities nationwide. The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for sourcing equipment, goods and services, as well as managing vendors. The successful candidate will be able to perform strategic procurement activities across multiple categories of spend, search for more cost-effective purchases for our national organization and develop new supply base relationships.

  • Develop, lead and execute purchasing strategies for the company, nationwide; assess, manage and mitigate risks;

  • Lead the company’s annual cost out initiatives, including analysis and benchmarking;

  • Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers; craft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms;

  • Track and report key functional metrics in order to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness;

  • Investigate material sourcing opportunities and analyze alternate purchasing options for existing materials or substitute items;

  • Resolve vendor issues including but not limited to pricing, fulfillment and product selection;

  •  Partner with stakeholders to ensure clear requirements;

  • Track and report key functional metrics in order to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness;

  • Travel to the other facilities to identify and outline additional cost out measures;

  • Communicate preferred vendors for items not directly purchased;

  • Procure capital expenditures;

  • Participate in facilities expansion and work with contractors to meet specific deadlines;

  • Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand and determine proper economic order quantities;

  • Determine quantity and timing of deliveries;

  • Lead the development of E-Procurement;

  • Manage direct reports, including but not limited to: determination of staffing requirements; hiring and training of personnel; setting employee goals and objectives; employee development; performance management and allocating the use of available resources.

  • Work with Accounting Department on Logistics and MRO purchases;

  • Work closely with Engineering and Sales to process RFQ’s in a timely fashion. Identify key vendors that will participate in our goal to turn quotes on a next day basis;

  • Work with Engineering to set up estimating tools on components and sourcing for prototypes; 

  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing initiatives;

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications :

  • Proven working experience as a purchasing manager.

  • Ability to manage direct reports, determine staffing requirements, set goals and monitor performance.

  • Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management. Ability to gather and analyze data.

  • Interest in market dynamics along with business sense.

  • Working experience of systems, software and ERP systems.

  • Solid judgement, along with superior decision-making skills.

  • Strong leadership capabilities, strong sense of urgency and resourceful.

  • Procuring offset printed materials is a plus.
