Springfield College, a humanics-focused organization, seeks an experienced Chief Information Officer to work with students, faculty, staff and administration to make a difference in the world every day. As a member of the President’s cabinet and the leader of information technology (enterprise applications, networks, systems, enrollment data and infrastructure), media services and information security, you will leverage your information technology management expertise to drive innovation and new efficiencies.


 


 Key duties include representing areas under management on the President’s cabinet to ensure that ITS priorities are aligned with college priorities, developing and executing a strategic vision for IT, staff hiring and development, budgeting and project management and cyber security. Commitment to diversity and outstanding customer service needed. Other requirements: 8-10+ years of progressively responsible information technology leadership, preferably in higher education or related field; Bachelor’s degree, with advanced degree preferred. 


 


Experience managing large, complex projects involving multiple technical and non-technical stakeholders, knowledge of all aspects of academic institution computer usage and commitment to innovation and strategic analysis.  Springfield College, a humanics-focused organization, seeks an experienced Chief Information Officer to work with students, faculty, staff and administration to make a difference in the world every day. As a member of the President’s cabinet and the leader of information technology (enterprise applications, networks, systems, enrollment data and infrastructure), media services and information security, you will leverage your information technology management expertise to drive innovation and new efficiencies. The CIO reports to the VP for Finance and sits on the President's cabinet, leading the organization that provides IT support for the entire college. The IT staff of 30 is divided into six units: The Service Center, Media Services, Academic Technology, Enterprise Applications, Enrollment Data Services, and Networks, Systems, and Infrastructure. The director of NS&I is also the college's information security officer. Current projects include implementing Slate for admissions and replacing the almost 30-year old PBX. Projects under development include replacing Jenzabar CX for Finance and Student and upgrading the campus network and wireless, with a cloud-first and a mobile-first approach. Process changes are undertaken in a spirit of continuous improvement. 


 


Responsibilities include:



1. Leadership. Work to understand the College mission and priorities. Maintain relationships with senior administration and people in key areas. Ensure that ITS priorities are aligned with College priorities. 2. Develop a strategic vision for IT which supports a growing and changing environment. • 3. Management. Hire, mentor and manage the IT staff for ongoing professional development and a very high quality of service. Enhance processes to support service management, change management, and project management. Communicate priorities clearly and often. • 4. Communications. Make effective communications, including listening, a priority. Provide updates to campus, to senior staff, and to IT. Ensure that internal communications are strong and constructive. • 5. Budgeting. Monitor expenditures and ensure that College funds are used in a cost-effective manner. Maintain multi-year plans for the replacement of College equipment, including desktops, laptops, printers, presentation systems, servers, storage, and networking. 6. Project Management. Manage College technology projects at the executive level and delegate project management to directors and others as appropriate. Ensure that a solid project methodology is followed with clear goals and effective communications. 7. Security. Perform routine audits of College systems. Inform senior leadership of issues related to cybersecurity. Work with the general counsel, the ISO, and others to develop policies and procedures. Develop disaster recovery and business continuity procedures.
